Configure your applet to determine what data to show your users and control it's
appearance and formatting. Use these options to configure your own applets, or modify the base
system applets provided by ServiceNow.
Most applet configuration is done within Studio. Access the applets on your
instance through Studio by navigating to .
Then, use the Application Explorer to navigate to , select Applets, and click the pop-out icon (
) that appears to the right of Applets.
Clicking the pop-out icon displays your applets in a card interface.
Applet Cards
Your applets are displayed as a card interface, with a card for each applet. The card
interface displays information about your applet.
- The icon and name used for the applet are displayed in the upper left corner.
- The edit icon. Click this icon to view or edit the applet properties.
- The delete icon. Click the delete icon to delete the applet.
- The template used for the applet.
- The user who created the applet.
- The length of time since the app was last updated.
You can click the applet card to open the configuration options for that
applet. |

Applet Properties
Applet properties are configuration options common to all applet types. Access these
properties by clicking the edit button on the applet card, or by clicking the
Properties button in the upper right of the applet configuration
screen.

Applet Screen configuration
List, form, employee directory, and map applets have a screen configuration interface. Use
this interface to control what information appears in your applet and how that data appears to
your users. You can also configure which functions your users can access within the applet.
- Header buttons

Use the header at the top of the form has buttons to view role permissions,
properties, or save or delete your applet.
- Use the Role Permission (
) button to limit your applet to specific roles. If no roles are selected, the
applet is available to all roles.
- Use the Properties button to view and update the applet
properties. Applet properties are detailed in the preceding section.
- Use the Save button to save changes to your applet.
- Use the Delete button to delete the applet.

- Tabbed sections

Some applets consist of more than one screen. For example, a list applet may also
contain a form screen to display a record selected from the list. Use the tabbed
interface to select the screen within your applet.
With the screen tabs are tabbed sections to separate functions, fields, and other
applet configuration options. The available tabs varies by applet type. For more
information on a specific applet, see the links in the related information section.

- Field configurations

The field selector appears on the left side of the field configuration section. Use
the field selector to select which fields appear in your applet. Use the arrow buttons
or double-click fields to select or remove the fields from the applet.
You can select between two date formats when adding date fields to applets:
- Date Format displays the date value. The formatting for the
date depends on your instances configuration.
- Time Difference Format displays the date as a period
relative to the current date, for example, 5 days ago.
Each date field added to the applet can be configured independently.
The applet pattern appears on the right side of the field configuration section. The
pattern shows a layout demonstrating how your selected fields appear within your applet.
Click the Change pattern button to select a different
pattern.

Applet configuration form
Group list, calendar, URL, and action applets have use a form interface for configuration,
similar to the forms you see elsewhere on your instance. For specifc information on each of
