Change approval policies

Use Change approval policies to define dynamic change approvals using a condition builder. With this feature, you can define multiple variable inputs and then evaluate them dynamically to generate the appropriate change approvals action.

Change approval policies are based on the platform feature called Decision tables, and it replaces Group Approval Activities workflow used in the prior releases.
Note: If you have upgraded from a previous release version, to use the change approval policies, complete the following steps:
  • Replace Group Approval activities or User Approval workflow actions with the Change Approval Policy activities in the Normal and/or Emergency change management workflow.
  • Configure the approval policies as needed.
A Change approval policy comprises of three components:
  • Policy inputs- The variable sources that are evaluated within a decision.
  • Decisions- Records that contain the conditions that determine what approval action is to be taken.
  • Approval Definitions- The approval action to take when a decision evaluation matches.
