Record testing with different assert types

When selecting certain types of server tests during initial test setup, you can designate whether a positive or negative test step result is considered a successful test outcome.

An Assert Type field is available when selecting the following types of server test steps:
  • Record Query
  • Record Insert
  • Record Update
  • Record Delete
  • Record Validation
  • Search for a Catalog Item

Using this field, specify if a positive or negative test result denotes a successful test outcome. For example, a successful test outcome for a Record Delete test step could include a successful deletion of a record (positive test result) or a failed record deletion attempt (negative test result). If you select the latter, the step passes if the record was not deleted.
