The ServiceNow® Decision Builder application provides an intuitive interface that you can use to create and manage decision tables. By changing the rules and conditions in a decision table, you can more efficiently meet changing business requirements. Decision Builder was enhanced and updated in the Vancouver release.

Decision Builder highlights for the Vancouver release

  • Test a decision table's function in Decision Builder to make sure it returns the results you expect.
  • Edit decision tables even after they've been published by enabling draft authoring on decision tables.
  • Simplify reference conditions and results by applying reference filters to inputs and result columns.
  • Manage business logic with decision tables across a wider set of contexts with support for the Duration field type in result columns.
  • Use Excel to manage complicated or large decision tables even when decision tables contain decisions with complex logic.

See Decision Builder for more information.

New in the Vancouver release

Test a decision table in Decision Builder
Confirm the functionality of decision tables by testing them in Decision Builder before using or publishing them.
Edit decision tables using draft authoring
Edit decision tables even after they have been published instead of having to create a new decision table with the changes.
Filter reference inputs and results in a decision table
Maximize the relevance of results you see in condition and result cells by adding filters to reference type inputs and results.
Duration field type is supported for results
Manage business logic with decision tables across a wider set of contexts with support for the Duration field type in result columns.

Changed in this release

Decision tables with advanced rows are now supported by Excel imports and exports
Previously, decision tables containing even one advanced row could not be edited in Excel. Tables with advanced rows can now be edited in Excel but advanced rows are read-only.

Activation information

Decision Builder is available with activation of the Decision Builder plugin (sn_decision_design). For details, see Update to the latest version of Decision Builder.

Localization information

The Localization Framework is integrated in Decision Builder. However, because the Edit in Excel feature doesn’t support localization, you cannot use this feature in any instance that doesn't use English.
