Important information for upgrading Platform Analytics Workspace to Vancouver
The Vancouver version of Platform Analytics Workspace (3.0) includes the updates in versions 2.1.x, previously available only in the ServiceNow® Store.
New in the Vancouver release
- Create cascading filters
- Filter based on multiple values in a hierarchy.
- Save filters in a dashboard filter library
- With the necessary role, save filters that you create on a dashboard to a filter library. Other users can use those filters in their dashboards.
- Show locational data on a map
- The new Geomap data visualization type shows locations on a map.
- Alternative Group By
- When viewing a data visualization on a dashboard, you can change the Group by field. An editor must first set up this choice on the data visualization. This ability applies to all data sources on all data visualizations that have group by, except pivot tables.
- Duplicate a dashboard or a dashboard tab
- Copy existing dashboards and tabs in the inline editor. You do not need editing rights to a dashboard to duplicate it.
- Configure a Process Mining map on a dashboard
- If you’re using Process Mining, you can add a map of states in a process to a dashboard.
- Dynamic aggregation support
- When using MetricBase as a data source, you can enable a dynamic period for a time series data visualization. When enabled, you can set the aggregation period to the time range and the metric transformation to resample.
UI changes
- Refresh button location moved to More actions
- The Refresh button is now in the More actions menu of data visualizations on dashboards.
- One flow for adding new or saved data visualization
- In the Add New Element menu on dashboards, you can use a single flow for adding a new or saved visualization from the Data Visualization option. This workflow replaces separate options for new and saved data visualizations.
Changed in this release
- Wider selection in filter UI
- Single- and multiple-select filters can now include pills, radio buttons, type-ahead fields, or check boxes instead of only pills. Informational text has also been improved.
- Filters for ITOM MetricBase
- You can now have MetricBase tables as both source and target in a filter. MetricBase tables are listed in the Table filter source type. The primary key is the field to be filtered. Date filters on a dashboard automatically apply to such MetricBase tables.
- Dashboard inline editor improvements
- Add new and saved data visualizations from the same menu, instead of having separate Library and New menus.
- Edit the Info panel.
- Set the default height and width of elements.
- Adjust the height of elements in the More actions menu instead of through dragging.
- Use keyboard navigation between the dashboard stage and elements above the stage.
- Move an element to a different tab or above the tabs.
- Change the order of dashboard tabs by dragging them.
- Recently viewed and "Shared with me" dashboards
- Select dashboards that you have recently viewed or that have been shared with you to view or edit.
- Specific URLs supported for dashboards and dashboard tabs
- You can copy a dashboard URL with selected filters and share with users.
- Viewer can select breakdown on indicator scorecard
- If you create an indicator scorecard to show breakdowns on one indicator, you can allow viewers to select which breakdowns are shown.
- Analytics Q&A supports Canadian French
- You can write queries in Canadian French.
