About this task

ServiceNow provides template notices that are presented to users depending on their geographic region. Review these notices confirm they are in accordance with applicable law before they are presented to users (as per our Data Processing Addendum).

When launching the application for the first time, users located in the European Union, UK, or Switzerland are prompted to select whether to consent to analytics tracking. US users are automatically opted-in for tracking, by default. Non-EU/non-US users see a notice of enabled analytics tracking. A user’s location is defined by user’s IP address.

If a user uses a VPN, then the location is the VPN’s IP location and not the user’s IP location.

Procedure

Modify the relevant user consent text.

Modify the consent text for European Union users (includes the UK and Switzerland)
  1. Navigate to System UI > Messages.
  2. Find and open the glide.analytics.consent.eu.text record.
  3. Update the Message field.
  4. Click Update.
Modify the consent text for non-EU/non-US users
  1. Navigate to System UI > Messages.
  2. Find and open the glide.analytics.consent.other.text record.
  3. Update the Message field.
  4. Click Update.
