Add a field that contains a unique numerical identifier for each record to a form.

Before you begin

Danger: Modifying or deleting a Sys ID can result in bad or lost data.

Role required: admin

Procedure

  1. Navigate to All > System UI > Views.
  2. Select a record from the UI View that you want to modify. For example, default.
  3. Select the Form Sections tab and select a record.
  4. On the Form Section record, select the Section Elements tab.
  5. Select New to create a new Sys ID section element.
  6. On the form, fill in the fields.

    Field Description
    Element The element you're adding to this form. Enter sys_id.
    Position A number for the location of the section element on the list.
    Type Type of section element you want to create. Select element.
  7. Select Submit.
  8. Execute a cache flush by appending your URL with /cache.do.

Result

The Sys ID field is now visible on your form.
