We're listening to your feedback and always improving the docs site. With each quarterly release, we'll now be including a set of release notes to let you know what's changed. With that in mind, we're excited to announce the 2024 Q1 updates to the ServiceNow® documentation site experience!

Improvements

  • Improved search results:
    • We've optimized search results to help you find the content you're looking for. You should see more relevant results and summaries within those results.
  • New features:
    • Dark Mode: Perfect for all your late night docs site browsing, you can now switch the site to dark mode.
    • Topic page summarizing: Click the Summarize button at the top of a topic page to get an outline of all the content on the current page.
    • Explain this code: If you've ever looked at a block of code and scratched your head as to its meaning, despair no more! The code block summarize feature will give you quick description and common context of the code snippets you see on the docs site.
  • Fixes and maintenance:
    • Zero search results page: We updated the search results page that you get when you have no results to include a bullet point calling out the "This publication" filter. This filter is applied by default when you perform a search from within a publication (so essentially anywhere but the homepage). It's a handy feature, but there are times when it may be causing no results to return if you're in a different publication than the one that contains the information you're seeking. So if you get 0 results, and that filter is applied, remove it and you might find what you're looking for!
    • User interface decluttering: To clean up the user interface, based on user feedback we removed metadata tags from topic pages.
    • Homepage banner image: This image file was too large. We made it smaller. Now the homepage loads faster.
    • Table sub-header: We put formatting on table sub-headers so you can actually tell they're a sub-header now.
    • Localized redirect: We corrected an issue where if you went to a non-English page that did not exist, you got a 404 error instead of being redirected to the English version of the page. You are now properly redirected.
