How search works:
  • Punctuation and capital letters are ignored
  • Special characters like underscores (_) are removed
  • Known synonyms are applied
  • The most relevant topics (based on weighting and matching to search terms) are listed first in search results
Topics are ranked in search results by how closely they match your search terms
  • A match on the entire phrase you typed
  • A match on part of the phrase you typed
  • A match on ALL of the terms in the phrase you typed
  • A match on ANY of the terms in the phrase you typed

Note: Matches in titles are always highly ranked.

    Q1-2020 changes

We've enhanced the ServiceNow® documentation site experience to provide a more personable experience. Navigation has been improved, release notes and upgrade information is easier to find and personalize, and all of your bookmarks remain the same.

Are you a reader or a watcher? You're covered either way. Watch this 90-second video to learn more or scroll down to explore the enhancements.

    Navigation

Learn about the ways you can move around the site and access the content you need.

    Explore by product

Navigate directly to the product docs that you use by finding them on the home page as main tiles or on the top navigation bar as an alphabetized list.

The Products list on the top navigation bar is clicked so you can view the alphabetized list of products, similar to the home page tiles.

    Browse the product directory

Below the product tiles, click View all products to find content for a specific product in an alphabetical list. You can also switch your release version here to see the available products in each version.

When you log in to the site, you can view My Profile by clicking your name on the upper right. Select the release version you use, and the tiles on the doc site home page will point to that version.

Update your profile to point to the platform version you have.

    Switch versions on topics

Use the Release version menu to select a different supported version of a topic. If the topic doesn’t exist for that version, you're taken to the search page with results for the topic that you're looking for.

The doc site is better optimized for longer topics and search results. The left navigation menu stays in place as you scroll on longer topics, and you can minimize the menu if you'd like. You can also scroll the left navigation menu to find what you need without losing your place in the current topic.
