How search works:
  • Punctuation and capital letters are ignored
  • Special characters like underscores (_) are removed
  • Known synonyms are applied
  • The most relevant topics (based on weighting and matching to search terms) are listed first in search results
Topics are ranked in search results by how closely they match your search terms
  • A match on the entire phrase you typed
  • A match on part of the phrase you typed
  • A match on ALL of the terms in the phrase you typed
  • A match on ANY of the terms in the phrase you typed

Note: Matches in titles are always highly ranked.

    Connect data to your components

Add data resources to dynamically expose your data from tables, records, or other elements on your page. Then bind that exposed data to components on your page. You reuse your components in Now® Experience UI Builder with data resources.

    Before you begin

    Role required: ui_builder_admin

    About this task

Add a data resource to your page, then bind that data to a component in UI Builder.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to Now Experience Framework > UI Builder.
    2. Open an experience to work in. Or, create a new experience by selecting Create experience in Platform. For more information, see Create an experience.
    3. Create or open a page.
    4. Add a component to your page, such as a button. You need a component on your page before you can bind a data resource to it.
    5. Select Data from the lower-left pane in UI Builder. The Data resource instances open, where you add and configure data resource instances for your page. If you have any inherited data resources, you see them listed in the inherited data resource pane. Inherited data resources are read only. You do not configure inherited data in UI Builder.
    6. Select + Add to add a data resource to your page.
    7. Choose an application from which to select a data resource. The Global application contains the most common data resources. The data resources relate to Server data, Operations, and Transform. You can add a data resource such as Look Up Records, Table route map, GlideRecord Query, and more.

Video shows clicking Add a resource and showing the data resources available.

    8. Select a data resource to add to your page. For example, under Server data, you could select Lookup Record. Select Add to add it to your page.
Image shows selecting Global application, Lookup Record data resource, and Add button.
    9. Select + Add a new event handler to set up an event handler for your component. The following example shows adding an event handler for a button component.
Image shows the add event handler option.
    10. From Event handler preview, select an event handler to bind to your component. The event handlers perform different actions.
Image shows the event handler options listed out that you can choose from.
For more information about binding an event to a component, see Bind an event to a component.
    11. Configure the event handler and select Add when finished. You configure each event handler differently, depending on the action of the event. For example, if you add an event handler for a button component, you can choose what that button action performs.
For more information about binding an event to a component, see Bind an event to a component.
