    Create an incident for an emergency

    As the Emergency Response Operations incident leader, you can create an incident and provide resources for it.

    Before you begin

    Determine a numbering strategy for specifying mission numbers. For example, a mission number for the first fire emergency in San Luis Obispo county could be FIRE-SLO-001.
    Roles required:
    • To create incidents on the IMT Portal, the sn_imt.imt_leadership_user, sn_imt.imt_psc_user, or sn_imt.imt_incidents_user role is required.
    • To add a new location while creating an incident, the sn_imt.imt_locations_user role is required.

    About this task

    When an emergency is identified that requires an incident management team (IMT) response, the leader creates the incident and allocates resources.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to Emergency Response Operations > IMT Portal.
      The portal displays active IMT incidents. After the end date of an IMT incident is reached, it is no longer listed, and its roster is not available.
    2. Click IMT Management in the header and select Create New.
      The recommended maximum number of workdays and the rest period for employees is set by default but can be changed.

    3. On the form, fill in the fields.

      Field Description
      Name Name for the incident.
      Mission # Mission number for the incident.
      Start Date Date the incident was first detected.
      End Date Date by which the incident is anticipated to be resolved.
      Type Type of incident, for example, a fire would be Natural Disasters Responses.
    4. Click Next.
    5. On the Select IMT Location form, add locations for the incident.
      • To modify an existing location, select it from the Location list.
      • To add a location, click Add New Location, add details for the location, and click Save.
    6. Click Next.

    7. Indicate whether you want to add positions to the default core positions that are listed.
      • If you don't want to add positions at this time, click No and skip to step 8.
      • If you want to add positions, click Yes and complete the following task.
      1. In the Select Positions for Location window, click the location where additional resources are needed.
      2. Select existing positions from the list.

      3. To add a position that is not in the list, click Add New Position, add details for the position, and click Save.
      4. Repeat these steps to add positions for each location.
      5. After you finish adding positions, click Next.
    8. Indicate whether you want to assign resources.
      • If you don't want to assign resources at this time, click No.
      • If you want to assign resources, click Yes, and then click Next after you finish.
    9. Review the summary of the incident and the assigned resources.
      • If the details are accurate, click Submit.
      • If changes are needed, click Back to make them. After you finish, navigate back to the incident summary and click Submit.

    Create a future incident

    As the incident leader, you can set up a future incident if an event is anticipated or to schedule an exercise to practice responding to an incident.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sn_imt.imt_leadership_user, sn_imt.imt_psc_user, or sn_imt.imt_incidents_user

    About this task

    The roster for a future incident does not appear when you select IMT Rosters from the home page. You can edit the incident to include the roster in the list before its start date.

    Procedure

    1. Follow the steps to create an incident, and enter future start and end dates in the first screen.
    2. On the Select IMT Location form, add locations for the incident and click Next.
    3. Click Yes to assign resources and then click Next.
    4. Click Edit beside a resource.

    5. Click Not needed and then click Save.
      The Action column is set to Not needed yet.
    6. Continue modifying the positions and then click Next.
    7. Click Submit.
    8. (Optional) Cause the roster to appear in the IMT Rosters list.
      1. Navigate to Emergency Response Operations > IMT Incidents.
      2. Open the future event and select the Show Roster check box.
      3. Click Update.

      Create an incident for an emergency

      As the Emergency Response Operations incident leader, you can create an incident and provide resources for it.

      Before you begin
