How search works:
  • Punctuation and capital letters are ignored
  • Special characters like underscores (_) are removed
  • Known synonyms are applied
  • The most relevant topics (based on weighting and matching to search terms) are listed first in search results
Topics are ranked in search results by how closely they match your search terms
  • A match on the entire phrase you typed
  • A match on part of the phrase you typed
  • A match on ALL of the terms in the phrase you typed
  • A match on ANY of the terms in the phrase you typed

    Record product details for SAP

    Use software models to connect purchased software rights with discovered software installations. You can also use software models to manage suites of software as well as to publish requestable software to the Service Catalog.

    Before you begin

    Role required: sam_user or model_manager

    About this task

    Manage available software and tie software installations (software being used) with entitlements (software owned) using software models. Create software models for all software to be monitored.
    Note: Users with the model_manager role can navigate to Product Catalog > Product Models > Software Models, but cannot administer all aspects of software models.

    Procedure

    1. Navigate to SAP Compliance and Optimization > SAP Software Models and create a new record (see table for field descriptions).

      For a detailed description of the fields related to all software models, see Record product details.

      Table 1. Software Model form
      Field Description
      Named user type Type of named user.
      Note: Only shown if Named Users is entered in the Product field.
      Price List Software group that corresponds to the named user.
      Note: Only shown if Named Users is entered in the Product field.
    2. To perform additional configuration, select the new software model record in the Software Models list.
      For a detailed description of how to perform additional configurations, see Record product details.
    3. Click Submit.

    Result

    Your software model is added to the software model list.

    What to do next

    If you have not already created one, create a software entitlement to define license details that are matched to software models, or run software reconciliation on your licenses.
