Request Software Asset Management

Request Software Asset Management

The Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin requires a separate subscription and must be activated by ServiceNow personnel. This plugin includes demo data. Depending on your environment, you may choose to request one or more related plugins which also must be activated by ServiceNow personnel.

Before you begin

To purchase a subscription or load demo data after activation, contact your ServiceNow account manager. The account manager can arrange to have the plugin activated, or demo data loaded, on your organization's production and sub-production instances generally within a few days.

If you do not have an account manager, decide to delay activation after purchase, or want to evaluate the product on a sub-production instance without charge, you can use this procedure to submit a plugin activation request through HI Service Portal.
Warning: If you upgrade to Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin from Software Asset Management plugin (com.snc.software_asset_management), you cannot revert back to Software Asset Management plugin (com.snc.software_asset_management).

About this task

Depending on your environment, you may choose to request one or more related plugins with the Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin. These optional plugins can be requested individually through HI Service Portal as well.
Note: Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) and related plugins can only be activated by ServiceNow personnel and are not visible in the plugin list (even after activation).
Warning: You must revert customizations after installing Software Asset Management for the first time, or upgrading, for all features to function as intended. The Revert Customizations module in Software Asset Management administration reverts customizations of files related to Software Asset Management to base configuration that were skipped during the installation or upgrade process.

Note: Customers who purchase the Software Asset Management Professional (com.snc.samp) plugin are licensed for software uninstall functionality only (software reclamation). Additional licensing is required for software install functionality.

Procedure

  1. In the HI Service Portal, click Service Requests > Activate Plugin.
  2. Fill out the form.
    Target Instance Instance on which to activate the plugin.
    Plugin Name Name of the plugin to activate.
    Specify the date and time you would like this plugin to be enabled

    Date and time must be at least 2 business days from the current time.

    Note: Plugins are activated in two batches each business day in the Pacific time zone, once in the morning and once in the evening. If the plugin must be activated at a specific time, enter the request in the Reason/Comments.
    Reason/Comments Provide any information that would be helpful for the ServiceNow personnel activating the plugin. For example, if you need the plugin activated at a specific time instead of during one of the default activation windows.
  3. Click Submit.

Changes to site functionality will be made starting around 6am on January 21st (Pacific Time) and lasting approximately 6 hours.  The site may be intermittently unavailable.
