Dependency Views release notes

Dependency Views release notes

ServiceNow® Dependency Views product enhancements and updates in the Kingston release.

Dependency Views provide maps that graphically display configuration items (CIs) that support business services and the relationships between the CIs.

Activation information

Now Platform feature – active by default.

Browser requirements

The Dependency Views module supports the latest version or service pack of the following browsers:
  • Firefox with the latest ESR
  • Chrome latest version
  • Safari version 8 or later (latest is recommended)
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) version 11 and Microsoft Edge.

Accessibility information

Accessibility is enhanced as follows:
  • If the accessibility feature is enabled, the following accessibility behaviors are in effect only for the map:
    • The root or the previously tabbed node on the map is focused on, and tabbing is constrained to be within the map. With the map being in focus, use the Enter key to switch to this navigation mode. Use the Esc key to exit this navigation mode and to switch the focus back to outside the map.
    • Tabbing cycles through the nodes and links on the map in the order of appearance from left to right, top to bottom, following regular tabbing behavior. From the last node, tabbing continues to the first node on the next tab.
    • When the focus is on a node that has indicators, tabbing cycles through the indicators while displaying the tooltip for the indicator in focus.
    • When you tab to a node, the map is centered on that node.
    • Keyboard alternatives to mouse actions:
      • The Enter key simulates a click.
      • The Spacebar key simulates a right click to open a context menu.
      • Tabbing to an element (focusing) simulates pointing to that element.
      • The + and — keys zoom in and out on the map.
    • You can use the arrow keys as an alternative navigation method. The arrow keys cycle through the elements on the map based on the directionality of relationships between CI nodes:
      • Press the up arrow key to move to source.
      • Press the down arrow key to move to target.
      • Press a side arrow to move to sibling nodes that share the same source or target node. The direction is according to the most recent direction used with the last node (up or down).
    • When the layout of the map is changed to horizontal, the arrow keys behavior flips by 90 degrees:
      • Press the left arrow key to move to source.
      • Press the right arrow key to move to target.
      • Press the up or down arrow keys to move to siblings.
The tabbing order in horizontal layout is top to bottom, left to right (as opposed to left to right, top to bottom). All other layouts assume vertical layout behavior.
  • When the focus is on the Related Business Services tab in the Details pane:
    • Press the Enter key to simulate a click.
    • Press the Spacebar key to simulate a double-click.
If the accessibility feature is enabled, then these instructions appear above the tab.
