Password Reset release notes ServiceNow® Password Reset application enhancements and updates in the Kingston release. Password Reset lets users use a self-service process to reset their passwords on the local ServiceNow instance. Alternatively, your organization can implement a process that requires service desk personnel to reset passwords for your users. Activation information The Self Service Password Reset plugin (com.snc.password_reset) and the Password Reset plugin (com.glideapp.password_reset) are both active by default for new instances and upgrades. See Password Reset setup guide . Note: The Password Reset application is not available during upgrade. New in the Kingston release Allow the user to select from a list of optional verifications With the Allow user to choose from optional verifications setting, the Verify page presents all optional verifications to the user during the password reset process. The user can select the verifications to use. New verification: Email verification Email verification relies on auto-generated code numbers. When a user requests password reset, the system sends a verification code to an email address that the user registered during enrollment. The user then enters the code in the Password Reset Verify page. You typically implement Email verification as a self-service Password Reset model. The Password Reset Windows Application supports Email verification. New verification: Google Authenticator verification While requesting password reset, the user reads a code from the Google Authenticator app on a mobile device and then enters the code in the Password Reset Verify page. You typically implement Google Authenticator verification as a self-service Password Reset model. The Password Reset Windows Application supports Google Authenticator verification.
