Start or stop self-health monitoring

Configure the required property to start or stop the self-health monitor. When started, this property enables you to use Event Management features that handle issues with Event Management itself.

About this task

Configure the self-health monitoring property to start self-health monitoring. Enable this property to monitor and track business services and Event Management.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Event Management > Settings > Properties.
  2. Locate the Enable Event Management self-health monitoring (evt_mgmnt.self_health_active) property and select Yes.

  3. Click Save.
    The property is set to monitor self-health.

What to do next

When required, you can set the self-health monitoring to off. However, the ServiceNow Event Management manual service nevertheless continues, and related events are still received, and alerts are generated. To stop events from being received and alerts to be generated, the manual service must be set to Non-Operational.

To stop self-health monitoring:
  1. Navigate to Event Management > Settings > Properties.
  2. Locate the Enable Event Management self-health monitoring (evt_mgmnt.self_health_active) property and select No.

  3. Click Save.

    The ServiceNow Event Management manual service still continues, related events are received, and alerts generated.

  4. [Optional] To stop events from being received and alerts from being generated, navigate to Event Management > Services > Manual Services
  5. In the ServiceNow Event Management manual service, in the Operational status field, select Non-Operational.Non-Operational manual service status
  6. Click Update.
