Create a segment definition Define segments to be used with cost and budget models. For example, create one segment for vendors on the core_company table where the Vendor field is true, and another segment for customers on the same table where the Vendor field is false. Procedure Navigate to Financial Modeling > AdministrationSegments. You can also create a new segment from the Segment Definition tab on the workbench. Click New. Fill out the fields on the form (see table). (Optional) Set a fiscal validity for the segment to include only valid records for allocation. By default, the Fiscal effective start is 'created' column. If you would like to view all the accounts in all fiscal periods, then specify fiscal effective start and end as 'none'. Example 1: Consider 'server' as a segment and you want to filter valid servers for allocation. Set the fiscal start date to be the install date and fiscal end date to be the decommissioned date. Example 2: To view only active projects for a fiscal period, use active start and end dates on the projects table. Click Submit. Field descriptions for creating a segment in Financial Management. Field Description Segment name Enter a descriptive name for the new segment. Transactional table Select the database table for transaction data to associate with the segment. Primary field Identify a field in the transactional table to serve as the primary source of information for the segment. Used by Cost Allocation Select the check box to make the segment available for financial modeling. Used by Budgeting Select the check box to make the segment available for financial planning. Condition Apply conditions to filter records. Fiscal effective start Used by Financial Modeling. Define a fiscal start period to filter the records in allocation setup for that fiscal period. Fiscal effective end Used by Financial Modeling. Define a fiscal end period to filter the records in allocation setup for that fiscal period.
