Event Management architecture

Event Management enables you to monitor the health of business services and infrastructure using a single management console and respond appropriately to any issues that come up. It provides intelligent event and alert analysis to ensure continuity of your business service performance. Event Management receives and processes events via the MID Server.

With Event Management, you can:

  • Configure rules for triggering incidents and remediation actions.
  • Configure alert binding to CIs, services, and hosts for root cause analysis.
  • Track events from various systems on a single console.
  • Monitor the alerts console for real-time event processing.
  • Review the color-coded service maps to see high priority alerts and events.
  • Use dashboards for monitoring, analysis, and remediation of alerts.
  • Get a history of previous alerts and events.
  • Review impact relationships between parent and child CIs.
  • Review impact and severity calculations based on alerts to prioritize work.
  • Remediate alerts by integrating with Orchestration.
As events occur on various systems, the MID Server connector instance sends the events to the ServiceNow instance. Event Management generates alerts, applies alert action rules, and prioritizes alerts for remediation and root cause analysis. You can use a browser to view this information on dashboards, the Alert Console, or from a service map.
