Create a service account for Cloud Management

Once you have your account credentials for your cloud provider, add the information for that account to a service account in Cloud Management.

Before you begin

  • Role required: sn_cmp.cloud_admin
  • Credentials: Create a credential record for Discovery to access the cloud account.
  • Account ID:
    • For AWS, use the 12-digit account number.
    • For Azure, the account ID is the subscription ID.
    • For VMWare: the account ID is the instance UUID. To obtain the UUID, do one of the following:
      • Open the managed object browser for the vCenter, and then click content > about. Copy the value of the instanceUuid property.
      • If you have already run Discovery on your VMWare infrastructure, you can open the Cloud API Trail, and then filter the list of records where Method name = ListDatacenters. Find the relevant record, and then open the CAPI Trail Log record from the related list. The UUID is the value of the locationid in the Log value field.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Cloud Management > Cloud Infrastructure > Service Accounts.
  2. Click New.
  3. Fill out the form fields (see table):

    The Cloud Service Account form

    Field Description
Name Enter a descriptive name for the account.
Account ID Enter the account ID to which this credential belongs. An AWS account ID is a 12-digit number. For Azure, the account ID is the subscription ID.
Discovery credentials Create the credentials required to manage this account.
Datacenter URL Enter the URL for the datacenter. This is mandatory for VMware vCenter datacenters.
Datacenter type Select the table from the CMDB that represents the type of datacenter.
Datacenter discovery status The last execution of datacenter discovery.
  4. Click Submit.
Your new account is created, and the list of all cloud service accounts is displayed.

What to do next

Run Discovery on the service account to find logical datacenters. You can run Discovery manually or set up a Discovery schedule.
