Integration with service mapping

Integration with service mapping

Service mapping provides complete visibility of all the configuration items (CIs) that make a business application and builds a map of the CIs based on which the business service functions.

Before you begin

Application Portfolio Management is based on applications that serve the purpose of fulfilling a business service. With the constantly evolving nature of business needs, the applications that serve the business need also evolve constantly. Therefore, the IT components of the application also change rapidly resulting in a disconnected array of substructure components of the application, which affects the business service.

APM integrates with service mapping to discover all CIs contributing to a business application in your organization. It provides a topology of a comprehensive map of underlying configuration items such as the devices and configuration profiles used in a business service. It maps dependencies, based on a connection between devices and applications.

As service mapping illustrates the various components, upon which the successful delivery of the business service relies, in a graphical display, it provides complete visibility of the dynamic infrastructure. It helps you to know how the effect of a component change on the business service would be.
