Create an idea towards achievement of goal

Ideas are a step to identify cost saving opportunities on the applications to meet the target. The strategy that you associate with the idea action decides the strategy for the application.

About this task

Create an idea to capture details like action, start and target fiscal period, application, program, and so on.

Procedure

  1. In the bubble chart, right-click a bubble to create an idea.

    You can also navigate to Application Portfolio > Application Strategy > Ideas and click New.

  2. In the New Idea form, fill in the fields.

    Field Description
    Action Course of action for the new idea.
    Replacement Application Name of the replacement application.
    Start by Fiscal year Fiscal period for which you would like to start implementing the idea action.
    Business Application Name of the business application.
    Business Entity Rollout entity or business unit where the action is to be implemented.
    Implement by Fiscal year

    Fiscal year by which the implementation of the idea must be complete.

    Since the idea is created for a particular fiscal year, the Implement by Fiscal year must be the same as Start by Fiscal year, if the idea is being set and is to be implemented for that year.

    Program Program for which the idea is created.
    Title Descriptive title for the action.
    Description Description about the action.
    Estimates
    Effort size Estimate of the time to implement the task.
    Estimated goal contribution % Estimated percentage the action would contribute towards the goal achievement.
    Estimated financial benefit Financial benefit likely to be gained from this action.
  3. Click Submit.

    To view the recently created idea, click The bulb icon icon.

  4. Do one of the following:
    • Click Save to save the idea after modifications.
    • Click Accept to accept the idea.

      This action creates a demand on the idea.

      Note:

      The demand user creates an idea and the demand manager accepts the idea.

  5. Click Defer to move it to a later point in time.

What to do next

After creating an idea, navigate to the Program Navigation page to Step 3: Create Demands.
