Configure inbound (pull) integration

Configure the inbound (pull) integration before you run the scheduled integration job.

Configuring the inbound (pull) integration is essential to ensure that the correct information is in sync between the third-party HR application and HRSM.
Note: The base system provides the correct configuration for inbound (pull) integration with Workday. Only edit when pulling additional information not provided.

The steps to configure inbound (pull) integration are:
  • Create or check that integration services have correct staging tables.
    • HR Integration Service: Configure what information HRSM pulls (inbound) from the third-party HR application and what staging table to place this information.
  • Create or check that webservices have correct WSDL and SOAP message functions.
    • HR Webservices: Configure SOAP messages used to authenticate and send a request to the third-party HR application and receive an XML response back.
  • Create or check integrations service mapping.
    • HR Service Mapping: Map the pulled data (HR Integration Services) to HR Webservices. Determine the staging table the pulled data is written to.
  • Generate schema mapping from .xml response.
    • HR Schema Mapping: Use to parse the XML from the third-party HR application into the staging tables. Staging tables prevent unnecessary information from populating into the core tables.
  • Change properties to execute a dry run.
    • Go to HR integrations source properties in Sources.
    • When sn_hr_integrations_dryrun in Sources is set to true, the data pulled from the third-party HR application is not transformed or moved from the staging tables to the HRSM core tables. This process allows you to verify that the information is correct before moving it to the HRSM core tables.
  • Run sync.
    • Go to Import Schedule and run the scheduled job (sync).
  • Ensure that integration data is correct.
    • Go to Job Tracker to view status of sync.
    • Go to Logs to view status of sync process and errors.
  • Change properties dry run and debug to false.
    • When data integrity is confirmed, go back to HR integrations source properties in Sources
    • sn_hr_integrations_dryrun in Sources is set to false.
  • Create or check that transform maps are correct.
    • HR Transform Maps: Transformation moves data from the staging tables to the HRSM core tables based on the rules defined in the transform map. You can view information pulled from the third-party HR application and the corresponding fields that are populated in the HR profile or other tables. For each transformation map, the source and target tables are listed.
