Publish a report

Publish a report

Publish a report to create a URL that anyone can use to access the report, including people who are not ServiceNow users. Navigating to that URL causes the report to be generated using current data from the ServiceNow platform.

Before you begin

Role required: both the report_publisher and itil role, report_admin, or admin

About this task

Data that is visualized as a chart is always visible in published reports. When a published report is a list report, ACLs are applied and users cannot see records they do not have access to. Published reports cannot be modified from their published report URL. Users must open a report from the ServiceNow instance to modify it.

Users with the admin or report_admin role can see if a report has been published in Reports > View / Run.

Note: To make a report available only to logged in users, set its Sharing setting to Everyone, but do not publish it.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Reports > View / Run.

  2. Click the report you want to publish.

  3. Select the drop arrow next to the Save button and select Publish.

A message with the link to the published report appears at the top of the page. This message is available until the report is unpublished. See Unpublish a report.
Note: Business rules may affect how records are collected for public reports. For more information, see Business rules
