Set up password encryption

Set up password encryption

You can encrypt passwords in the file.

About this task

Encrypting passwords in the file is good for security, but makes it difficult to debug connection and access issues during initial start up. Make sure that the encryption proxy is set up and running before you set this property. Always set this property in production environments.

  1. Change to the <installation directory>/conf/ directory.
  2. In the conf directory, create a text file that contains the password you want to use to encrypt the passwords in the file.
  3. Open the file.
  4. Enter the password property.
    Table 1. Password property
Property Description Name of the file in the conf folder that contains the clear text password or phrase used to encrypt passwords in the file.

If this property is not set, the passwords are not encrypted. Leave this property blank until after the proxy configuration has been set up and tested.

  5. Save and close the file.
