Plugin activation information

In Geneva, certain features are automatically enabled for all instances, while others require an additional plugin, subscription, or activation by an administrator or ServiceNow personnel.

The following table lists activations and requests for new and upgraded Geneva instances. The table is organized by Geneva features and changes by product.

Business Management Financial Management

The Financial Management application (formerly known as IT Finance) is available starting with the Fuji release. The modules in the Financial Management application prior to the Fuji release are now included with IT Cost Management. An administrator can activate Financial Management.

Governance, Risk, and Compliance

Administrators can activate the GRC plugin. Additional plugins are activated as needed. This plugin provides demo data. In addition, the GRC: Risk plugin (new in Geneva) must be activated to use Profiles.

Project Management: Teamspaces
You must activate a teamspace plugin to use the teamspace feature. The following plugins are available (the teamspaces loaded with these plugins contain the same components, but the components have different prefixes):
  • Project Management TeamSpace 1 (com.snc.ppm_teamspace_1)
  • Project Management TeamSpace 2 (com.snc.ppm_teamspace_2)
  • Project Management TeamSpace 3 (com.snc.ppm_teamspace_3)
  • Project Management TeamSpace 4 (com.snc.ppm_teamspace_4)
  • Project Management TeamSpace 5 (com.snc.ppm_teamspace_5)
Resource Management

You can activate the Resource Management plugin if you have the admin role.

Custom Application Development Studio

Active by default. The Studio plugin is new in Geneva.

IT Operations Management Cloud Management

Cloud Management requires activation, a request to ServiceNow, and a subscription.

Discovery

Discovery is available as a separate subscription from the rest of the ServiceNow platform and requires the Discovery plugin.

Event Management

Event Management plugin (com.glideapp.itom.snac) requires a separate subscription and must be activated by ServiceNow personnel. This plugin includes demo data and activates related plugins if they are not already active.

MID Server

The MID Server application is downloadable from the ServiceNow service instance. The MID Server is upgraded automatically when you upgrade the instance. However, you can configure the version number to control MID Server upgrades. The MID Server is configured to check with the ServiceNow instance hourly to determine whether it needs to upgrade. This configurable behavior allows the MID Server to upgrade automatically when the instance upgrades.

Orchestration Orchestration is available as a separate subscription from the rest of the ServiceNow platform and requires the Orchestration plugin.
Password Reset

Password Reset is available as a separate subscription from the rest of the ServiceNow platform and requires the Password Reset plugin.

Password Reset - Orchestration Add-on Customers who have purchased Orchestration may be entitled for the Password Reset - Orchestration Add on plugin. Contact your sales representative for licensing information.
Service Mapping In the Geneva release, Service Mapping is a native ServiceNow application
IT Service Management Change Management

The Change Request plugin (formerly Change Management) is active by default in Geneva and later releases.

Service Portfolio Management

Service 360 is dependent on a subscription to Performance Analytics Premium.

Security Operations Security Incident Response

The Security Incident Response plugin is available as a separate subscription.

Vulnerability Response

The Vulnerability Response plugin (new in Geneva) is available as a separate subscription.

Service Management for the Enterprise Service Management Core: Customer Service Management

You can activate the Customer Service plugin (com.sn_customerservice, new in Geneva) if you have the admin role. This plugin includes demo data and activates related plugins if they are not already active.

Service Management Core: Facilities Service Management

The Facilities Service Management plugin is available as a separate subscription. Upon activation, the Service Management Core is automatically activated.

Service Management Core: Field Service Management

The Field Service Management plugin (com.snc.work_management) is available as a separate subscription. Activating it automatically activates the Asset Management, Process Flow Formatter, Skills Management, Service Management, and State flows plugins.

Service Management Core: HR Service Management

The Human Resources Application: Core plugin replaces the Human Resources Service Management Core CMS Portal plugin. New deployments have only the new version of the Human Resources plugin, which includes both Core and Employee Change.

ServiceNow Platform Business Service Management Map

Next Generation Business Service Management Map (NG-BSM) and Legacy Business Service Map features have moved to the Dependency Views module in the Geneva release. The Legacy BSM still remains to support system that do not meet minimum requirements for Dependency Views. This feature is built into the base instance and is active by default.

Chat

An administrator can activate Chat.

CMDB

The Configuration Management (CMDB) plugin is automatically active for all instances. You must activate the Extended CMDB plugin to see the modules for specialized configuration items.

Connect

Connect is active by default on new instances. For instances upgrading from a previous version, the Connect plugin (com.glide.connect, new in Geneva) must be activated.

Contextual Search

Dependency Views

The Dependency Views module is active in all instances and includes demo data.

Edge Encryption

The Edge Encryption plugin is available as a separate subscription.

Knowledge Management

Knowledge management is significantly changed with Knowledge v3, which is enabled by default for all instances starting with the Fuji release. For migration information, see Knowledge Management v3 migration.

Live Feed

Live Feed is active for all instances. For instances upgrading from a version prior to Fuji, an administrator can activate the Live Feed v2 plugin.

Notify

The Notify plugin (com.snc.notify) requires a separate subscription. This plugin includes demo data and activates related plugins if they are not already active. For migration information, see Migrating from legacy Notify.

Service Level Management

The SLA plugin is active out of the box and requires activation by an administrator. SLA is always active for upgraded instances, unless the original instance dates back to 2010-2011. The SLA plugin is only inactive in Business Edition, and it is not automatically activated. is applicable for users that are running the 2010 SLA Engine.

User Interface

UI16 is the default user interface for new instances. For upgraded instances, an administrator may need to activate UI16. For previous UIs, UI15 is the default user interface for upgraded instances, and UI11 is activated but disabled by default.

Visual Task Boards

Visual Task Boards are active by default on new instances. For instances upgrading from previous versions, the Visual Task Boards plugin may need to be activated.

Performance Analytics and Reporting Performance Analytics

Performance Analytics for Incident Management is a limited version of Performance Analytics that is included in the base system, enabling you to become familiar with the functionality. You can upgrade to the premium version of Performance Analytics for complete Performance Analytics functionality and unlimited access to all Performance Analytics features. To purchase a subscription, contact your ServiceNow account manager. The account manager will arrange to have the plugin activated on your organization's production and sub-production instances, generally within a few days.
