CMDB release notes

CMDB product enhancements and updates in the Geneva release.

Activation information

The Configuration Management (CMDB) plugin is automatically active for all instances. You must activate the Extended CMDB plugin to see the modules for specialized configuration items.

New in the Geneva release

For information about these features, see Configuration Management.
Identification and Reconciliation Application that helps maintain the integrity of the CMDB when multiple sources are used to create and update CI records. It prevents duplicate CIs by identifying CIs, reconciling CI attributes, and allowing only authoritative data sources to write to the CMDB. See Configuration Management.
Timeline of CI changes This timeline format view provides CIs' detailed history of changes across a time period. History timeline view is available only for the Configuration Item [cmdb_ci] table and its descendants.

See Timeline of CI changes.

Proposed changes verification Allows users to create proposed change verification rules with a script that verifies the proposed changes to ensure that proposed changes do not introduce invalid data to the CMDB, or that they are within business requirements.
Planned change validation Allows users to create a custom script that checks if a change to a class was valid, and whether it was planned or not. You can define multiple planned change validation scripts for a single class, for example to maintain different versions of the script.
CI reclassification Support for automatic reclassification of CIs during Identification, if needed. Or, creation of CI reclassification tasks to allow manual reclassification.
Business rules metadata editor Editor to define containment and hosting rules that represent a business service to assist in correct CI identification.
