Network and MID Server validation You must validate the network connection between the MID server and your instance before the MID server is permitted to access automation credentials or execute any outbound ECC probes. Network validation involves using network tools such as PING, TRACEROUTE, and SNMP scanning tools. MID Server validation is a manual, one-click step that you must perform on all new MID servers. The validation restricts access to automation credentials to trusted MID Servers only. Note: When you upgrade to Geneva and later releases, MID Servers that are already configured in your instance are automatically validated. This prevents the interruption of automation tasks that MID Servers might be performing. See MID Server upgrades upgrades for more information on upgrading the MID server. Validate network connectivityYou confirm network connectivity between the MID Server host and the ServiceNow instance. Confirm connectivity to the MID ServerAs a best practice, confirm connectivity of the MID Server before you run a Discovery schedule.Validate a MID ServerWhen a new MID Server is installed and launched for the first time, it cannot execute any automation tasks until it is validated.
