Exclude devices from Discovery

Exclude devices from Discovery

Use the Discovery configuration console to determine which device configuration items (CI) are added to the CMDB.

Before you begin

Role required: discovery_admin, admin

About this task

Note: The instance creates an update set record for any change you make to the console.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to Discovery > Discovery Definition > Configuration Console.
  2. Expand the category for the type of device that you want to exclude.
  3. Make sure that this level is enabled.
If Discovery is disabled at this level, you cannot discover any of the nested CIs.
  4. Under Device Classes to Discover, turn off the devices that you want to exclude, such as Solaris Servers or Mac OS X Computers.
Disabling Discovery for a device means that no information, running applications, or software installations are collected for that device.
